Phoenix Paver Installation

Paver Installation in Phoenix, AZ

Paver patios, walkways, driveways, pool decks and fire pits, built on a base made for desert soil and summer heat.

Paver Patios and Driveways Built to Last

A paver job looks simple from the top, but how long it lasts depends on what is underneath. We dig out the soil, build a compacted aggregate base in layers, screed a level sand bed, then lay and cut the pavers and lock them in with edge restraint and joint sand.

Phoenix yards bring their own challenges: hard caliche soil that has to be broken out, monsoon storms that dump a lot of water at once, and summer surface temperatures that make color and material choices matter. We plan the slope, drainage and paver color around all three.

Arizona law requires contacting Arizona 811 before any digging, and the service is free. We request utility locates before we excavate for a base, a wall footing or a gas line.

You get a written estimate that lists excavation, base, pavers, borders, walls and any gas or electrical work, plus a schedule.

What a Good Paver Job Gets Right

The base

A compacted aggregate base, built in layers, keeps pavers from sinking and shifting when the ground moves.

Edge restraint

A solid edge holds the border course in place so the pattern does not spread apart over time.

Drainage

The surface slopes away from the house so monsoon rain runs off instead of pooling against the foundation.

Heat and color

Lighter pavers and travertine stay more comfortable to walk on in July than dark surfaces.

Where We Install Pavers in Phoenix

Phoenix Paver Installation Questions

How long does a paver patio take to install in Phoenix?

Most residential patios and walkways take a few days of work once the layout and pavers are set: excavation, base, bedding sand, pavers, cuts, compaction and joint sand. Larger projects with walls, fire pits or driveways take longer. You get a schedule with your written estimate.

Do I need a permit for pavers in Phoenix?

Two parts of a paver project can involve the City of Phoenix. Driveway pavers that run into the street right-of-way may need a maintenance agreement from the Street Transportation Department, and retaining walls over 3 feet need a permit. We check both during the estimate.

Are pavers better than concrete in the Phoenix heat?

Pavers do not crack across the whole surface the way a slab can when the ground moves, and a single damaged paver can be lifted and replaced. Lighter colors and travertine stay more comfortable underfoot in summer than dark surfaces.

Can pavers go over my existing concrete patio?

Sometimes. If the slab is sound and there is room for the added height at doors and edges, thin pavers can be set over it. If the slab is cracked or heaving, it is better to remove it and build a proper base.

Which parts of Phoenix do you serve?

We work across Phoenix, including Arcadia, Ahwatukee, Desert Ridge, North Central Phoenix, Laveen and Deer Valley.
